Portraits Exhibitions – October 2017
We were delighted to see so many visitors at our first Art Exhibition this year. The children across the school have worked really hard this term on the topic of ‘Portraits’ and were inspired by the work of artists such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Van Gogh and Alberto Giacometti. We have been encouraging children across the school to express themselves artistically through a range of media, such as paint, shading pencils, clay and computer programs to produce stunning art pieces.
This was a special event for the children – who visited the galleries with their classes during the school day and then again with their parents/carers before and after school. They enjoyed finding, admiring and talking about their creative learning journeys and final masterpieces.
We would like to thank all of our visitors for coming to celebrate the children’s wonderful achievements and for taking time to write comments on our Art Exhibition feedback sheets. It was wonderful to read your comments in praise of the children’s wonderful artwork and in praise of the event. Here are a few comments from our guests;
“What a great inspiration Picasso’s abstract art has been for the children.” – Year 2 parent
“Very impressed with my children’s work (proud mummy). – Year 1&2 parent
“Absolutely amazing! So good to see our budding artists being acknowledged for their wonderful work.” – Year 4 parent.
“This exhibition has reassured me that the curriculum at Prince of Wales truly is rich and broad and balanced. That these children have had an opportunity to ‘wallow’ in art and design is a testament to the school’s valuing of the subject and particularly important to those children whose talents lie in the visual arts”. –Guest
“The quality of the children’s work was fantastic. I loved the way it was displayed and the fact that we had the opportunity to view it. They have both learnt so much about their chosen artist, which has been great.” –Year 5&6 parent.
“Lovely to see all the children’s different interpretations of the sculpture. Great display!” –Year 6 parent
“Beautiful work, beautifully presented. Children (and staff) have clearly worked hard to produce such masterpieces”. – Year 2 parent.
“The exhibition was so beautifully displayed, a warm and serene environment. I felt like I was stepping into a real art gallery/exhibition. So impressed with the work the children have done. I am very proud of my daughter and all the other children. Very impressed!”. – Year 5 parent.
“Outstanding art and attention to detail.” – Year 5 parent.
