Key Action 1: To meet or exceed National Expectations in attainment and progress

  • To provide more opportunities for greater depth in reading and maths
  • To use drama as an effective strategy to improve speaking, listening and writing (D4W)
  • To use speaking as an effective strategy to improve writing (T4W)
  • To improve parental engagement in EYFS
  • Lilac trained staff to share strategies to support advanced bi-lingual learners
  • To improve the whole school approach to the teaching of handwriting and spelling
  • Cross school moderations
  • To motivate learners through learning outdoors
  • To increase parental involvement in pupils’ learning (incl. Cafes 4 All)
  • To support teachers to improve the quality of PE lessons
  • To improve teachers’ confidence in the delivery of PE
  • To improve teachers’ confidence in the delivery of music
  • International Dyslexia Learning (IDL) – reading and spelling computer program
  • Ensure good induction and support for trainee teachers, NQTs and new staff
  • Maximise LSAs impact on known and new SEND pupils

Key Action 2: Introduce end of school day 2.30pm – 3.30pm enrichment

  • Ensure smooth transition at the start and end of each session
  • Ensure school budget not adversely affected by enrichment
  • Review procedures for pupils sign up and arranging groups in time for Spring, Summer and Autumn ’19 activities
  • Review impact of the new school day and enrichment on staff and pupils

Key Action 3: Reduce persistent absence and exclusions

  • To improve the emotional well-being of pupils and create closer links with parents / carers (incl Sandwell Charter Mark)
  • Communicate more regularly with parents
